Forest School uses the outdoor environment to help children learn.
Outdoor play is very important for young children and all of our children use the outside areas whatever the weather (there is no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing).
Through regular weekly visits to Forest School, children are encouraged to develop independence  improve, language and decision-making, and raise their self-esteem through small achievable tasks.
 
Sessions are child-led to accommodate different learning styles and schema s and the adult's role is facilitative.
 
 
Forest School provides a safe environment in which children can explore
their own understandings of outdoor space.
 
The learning environment: provides a rich, varied, and changing environment that supports individual children's learning and development.
 
All areas of the curriculum and areas of development for Early Years Foundation Stage take place at Forest School.

Forest School nurseries have been an integral part of Early Years education in Scandinavia since the 1950's.
The Scandinavian concept aims to teach children of all ages about self-confidence and self awareness through outdoor activities.
 
Parents are asked to provide weather-proofs and wellies for their child.

I would like to say a big Thank you for letting me take part in Forest School on 12th March.  It warmed my heart to see how all the children enjoyed the outdoors.  They all behaved amazingly.
The structure of the session involved all of the children and allowed them to make their own choices and decisions.  It was fun but everyone was learning as well.  This involved counting, listening, hearing noises, naming bugs, spotting birds, painting trees with mud and water and also that there are rules so that everyone stays safe.
On a personal note it was great to see how Liam intereacted with his peers.  He also had confidence to join in and answer questions when it was an open forum.  Every child was given the opportunity to talk about what they had enjoyed.
I would recommend that every Mum, Dad or carer should attend a session.  It was great fun!  Thanks Sarah
